A fascinating and highly informative deep dive into the early 20th century history of New York. From politics to New forms of media and entertainment to architecture and business ventures. It would have gotten 5 stars but for the glaring lack of Black history. Only Duke Ellington is given any kind of attention, at the near end of a very very long book, despite the subtitle of Jazz Age. And the Harlem Renaissance is only mentioned in passing. As compared to non-New Yorker Charles Lindbergh getting an entire mini-biography. It is disappointing, but the parts that are covered are very well written (if a bit repetitive after a while). Would still recommend.
