Another book that cements destructive stereotypes. A man wanting a woman who treats him like shit. I was tolerating it up until a scene where her sad up-bringing containing domestic violence is immediately followed by her kneeing the guy hard in the groin, since this is not violence but simply funny, right? I gave up completely when the guy, a protector of people and advocate for anti-violence, breaks his friends nose for saying "bros before hoes", claiming it had to be done since no one calls his woman a ho. What the actual f***? If this was a real relationship, I as a social worker would guide this couple to the team for relational violence. I hate that these norms are being brought forward still, and pray my daughters will never fall into the trap of believing they are attractive when being assholes, or wanting a man who would hit someone over such stupid reasons.
