There’s one big problem with this story: the fact that the male protagonist is called Franz Kafka - and that fact is never explained. If an author chooses to name a character after one of the most famous writers ever, it should be commented in some way. In this story it’s just completely confusing. Apart from that: it’s a story that reminds us of the fact that there are people struggling to stay compassionate in all countries in times of war. That’s important to keep in mind these days, with the ongoing conflicts, where we in many cases tend to demonise people from certain nations. We are all human, this book reminds me of that.
